Mid Career (2+ years of experience)
Assist manager in all areas related to the purchase of fresh and frozen seafood and effect the timely and qualitative completion of all purchasing activities. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:
1.Responsibility for compilation and accuracy of fresh seafood inventory each day. This includes the reconciliation of items sold and received.
2.Perform daily and weekly price changes to insure sales has accurate sales information.
3.Assume responsibility for quality purchases at lowest prices, always getting at least one competitive bid an all items purchased.
4.Inspect incoming product to assure that the product purchased is the same as product received.
5.Be acquainted with current freight rates. Coordinate all seafood purchases with truckers to assure dependable, cost effective deliveries. Follow-up daily to correct foul-ups and assure prompt, accurate deliveries.
6.Enter into computer purchase orders on a daily basis as items are purchased.
7.Coordinate with the owner, and Accounts payable the approval of invoices to assure accurate quantities, prices etc. before paying invoices.
8.Gather frozen price information over the phone weekly.
9.Develop usage data comparing at least 3 years of same week sales on fresh items.
10.Maintain daily usage of all fresh items sold in order to determine how much to purchase each day in a "fresh seafood daily" environment.
11.Maintain weekly frozen and dry good buying sequence using sales analysis report, in order to maintain a 3-4 week average inventory.
12.Assist sales in obtaining products for special customers (these are usually non-stock or hard to find items).
13.Assist purchasing manager by making the purchasing department more accessible.
14.Perform other duties, as needed, such as inventory control, quality control, and accounts payable.
Must be computer literate. Must have good negotiating skills and be able to communicate on the telephone in an aggressive, firm, and knowledgeable manner. Must be well organized, detail oriented and willing to work a varied schedule, including some Saturdays.
